Toronto Wedding | Amy & Peder at Berkeley Field House

Toronto Wedding | Jessica Blaine Smith

Okay. There are about a million images in this blog post. A million. And I am going to make no apologies for it. If you are a photographer looking at me in disgust, please divert your eyes now. Because here I am sharing a lot of images of what was a really incredible wedding and I will make no excuses for it. Amy and Peder. There is lots to say about these two. We did their engagement portrait session ten days before their wedding and I laugh-cried throughout the entire session. These two are special. They have a great story. They love hard. And they are loved back by everyone who surrounds them even harder. Their wedding was a testament of who they are. Amy used her crafty skills wherever possible. They included family heirlooms. And colour. All of the colour. And the best thing was: they didn’t hold back when emotions stirred inside, they let them all out. (And yes, I teared up along with them, attempting, rather poorly, to do so behind my camera.) These two love fearlessly and nothing in this life will hold them back because together, they can conquer anything. Enjoy the images, all of them. It’s fun to relive the day through them. I am so thankful that Amy and Peder found their way to me.

Dress: Allure Bridals from Ferre Sposa
Hair & Makeup: Techniques Salon
Florist: Cool Green & Shady
Officiant: Toni Ellwand
Musicians: Sarite Harris Trio
DJ: Record Collective
Cake: Bobbette and Belle

A couple of things: their amazing DJ played records. As in the real thing. Klaus on King Street was kind enough to let us take photos inside their store after I spied their incredible light fixtures. The only thing missing from their wedding was their cat, Tybalt. Their wedding favour was a pack of cards with his portrait. Amy and Peder chose to do their first dance immediately following the ceremony. They walked down the aisle and bam, it happened! I loved that everyone was already in place to watch it. The Berkeley Field House is one of the most unique wedding venues in Toronto – just look at the treehouse for proof of that. Congratulation, you love cats! x

Evergreen Brickworks Engagement Portraits | Ivy & Will

Evergreen Brickworks Engagement

When I think of autumn portraits in Toronto, I immediately think of the Evergreen Brickworks. With the hill of red Sumacs and the ravine trails, I just love it. I recently met Ivy and Will at there for their engagement portrait session and together we made some beautiful portraits.Evergreen Brickworks EngagementEvergreen Brickworks EngagementEvergreen Brickworks EngagementEvergreen Brickworks EngagementEvergreen Brickworks EngagementEvergreen Brickworks EngagementEvergreen Brickworks EngagementEvergreen Brickworks EngagementEvergreen Brickworks EngagementEvergreen Brickworks EngagementEvergreen Brickworks EngagementEvergreen Brickworks EngagementEvergreen Brickworks EngagementEvergreen Brickworks Engagement

A Drake One Fifty Wedding

Drake One Fifty Wedding | Jessica Blaine Smith

My favourite kind of weddings are those that truly represent the couple. The ones that are a bit out of the ordinary from what you expect with your typical wedding. The ones where you know that the couple’s heart is fully into every aspect of the day. Lindsay and Devon’s wedding was just that. Instead of a regular ol’ wedding dress, Lindsay wore a beautiful jumpsuit and when she didn’t have your bouquet for most of the portraits, we simply did without. Their ceremony was a beautiful intimate one that took place at Devon’s parents’ home. Champagne and hors d’oeuvres were served before we headed downtown to create some portraits together. Their reception was then held at the stunning Drake One Fifty. This may be my new favourite wedding venue in the city and I could have made portraits there all day… had their 150 guests not arrived. Congratulations Lindsay and Devon! Thank you for choosing me to be the one to capture such an awesome day for you.Drake One Fifty Wedding | Jessica Blaine SmithDrake One Fifty Wedding | Jessica Blaine SmithDrake One Fifty Wedding | Jessica Blaine SmithDrake One Fifty Wedding | Jessica Blaine SmithDrake One Fifty Wedding | Jessica Blaine SmithDrake One Fifty Wedding | Jessica Blaine SmithDrake One Fifty Wedding | Jessica Blaine SmithDrake One Fifty Wedding | Jessica Blaine SmithDrake One Fifty Wedding | Jessica Blaine Smith

Charlotte Turns One Year Old!

One Year Old Portrait | Jessica Blaine Smith

This little lady recently turned one year old and to celebrate we did a portrait session. Charlotte belongs to friends of mine and it is always so fun to watch roles change as friends become parents. She is just on the cusp of starting to walk and I managed to capture her as she stood on her own for the first time. Too cute! One Year Old Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithOne Year Old Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithOne Year Old Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithOne Year Old Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithOne Year Old Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithOne Year Old Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithOne Year Old Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithOne Year Old Portrait | Jessica Blaine Smith

A Toronto Engagement Portrait Session | Amy & Peder

Toronto Engagement Portrait | Jessica Blaine Smith

I am a big fan of laughing. If you know me, you know that I also tend to cry when I laugh. Within the first half hour of doing Amy and Peder’s engagement portrait session, I had cry-laughed at least three times. This means that we had a ridiculously awesome time making photos together. I love engagement sessions that include locations that have real meaning to the couple. We started Amy and Peder’s session at their awesome home that they share with quite-possibly-the-largest-cat-in-the-world named Tybalt. From there we wandered their neighbourhood chasing the setting sun and then settling in at Three Speed for a pint (or two). There is so much that I can about these two but instead, I’ll let the images do the talking and will conclude by saying that I cannot wait to photograph their wedding that takes place exactly a week from today.Toronto Engagement Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithToronto Engagement Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithToronto Engagement Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithToronto Engagement Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithToronto Engagement Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithToronto Engagement Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithToronto Engagement Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithToronto Engagement Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithToronto Engagement Portrait | Jessica Blaine Smith
