Real Life Family Portraits at the Studio, Toronto

Studio Family Portrait | http://jbsmithphotography.comI love photographing families as they are. Forget the perfectly-posed, hands-in-lap, teeth-smile, combed-hair portraits. I love the real ones that show the true expressions and personality of each family member. I love any “imperfections” that come from these portraits because they often give more insight into who that person is. It is incredible to have these images to look back on when the kids are adults. (I recently wrote about the value of images on my personal blog here.)

I especially love them when families come into the studio every year for new portraits to document the changes and growth in their family. In 2006 I photographed Heather and Strahan’s wedding and since then I have been photographing them annually as each of their three kids was born. This year’s session was taken the morning after Halloween so the kids had a little extra sugar pulsing through their veins! I also love that Heather’s parents joined in for a few portraits. Having photos with the grandparents is such a wonderful thing.
