I love doing engagement portrait sessions. I think that they are a way to get some nice portraits of you, as you normally look. On the day of your wedding, you are going to look amazing but that’s now how you are on a daily basis. Your engagement session allows you to get some real portraits as you are with just the two of you (and that pesky camera following you around!). I met Scott and Vince in their Parkdale neighbourhood for their engagement session. We started at Capital Espresso, their favourite local coffee shop, before wandering around the neighbourhood. We then ended the session at their front stoop where they spend a lot of time – and I can see why! These two have a lot of fun together and I cannot wait to photograph their wedding in August. .jpg)

Maternity portraits. This time such a wild one in the couple’s life. The quiet before the storm. The days leading up until your family becomes three. When Sara contacted me about doing portraits of her and Kurt, I was very flattered. She is a photographer as well so when a photographer books a photographer, you know you are in it! We met at Sunnyside Pavilion a couple of weekends ago close to sunset for the session. I cannot wait to meet their little guy in the coming weeks..jpg)

It was a very early morning when I met up with Reem and Laurentiu for their engagement portraits in Toronto’s West end. It seemed as though we were all still rubbing sleep out of our eyes. Then Reem turned to face the city and said, “Oh wow, this makes getting up this early worth it.” The sun was just beginning to kiss the towers downtown. We watched it rise above Toronto and we made some beautiful images in the process. I am constantly inspired by light and there is something magical about seeing the first light of the day. (It’s probably because for most of us, it is such a rare thing to witness thanks to that early hour!).jpg)

I love photographing families at their home when there is a small baby involved. The family can be together comfortably in their own space. The resulting images are truly real family portraits. Five year old Zach was very happy to show off his two week old brother when I visited them a couple of weeks ago. He told me that he plans to invite his brother how to do “everything” as soon as he is old enough. .jpg)
