Two Year Old Portraits | Jessica Blaine Smith http://jbsmithphotography.com Holy heck was I ever excited to photograph Evie again! The last time that I photographed her was when she was seven months old. Now she is two years old and I love that she has that same sparkle in her eyes as she did when she was a baby (evidence is above!). This time around, Evie’s Mom and Grandma joined in for the portrait session. It’s a lot of fun to photograph the same people over the years to document their changes. There is real value in the images when you can look back and see just how much as changed and this is probably one of my most favourite aspects of my job. Six Month Old Portraits of Aylish (and her family), Christie Pits, Toronto

Aylish is six months old! You may remember Aylish newborn portrait session that I did at her home and they were also the winners of my Big, Bad, Sick of Winter Photo Contest. This time around, we met at Christie Pits in Toronto for their session. The little lady is sitting on her own which is a great age to have documented. Her older sister Yshia was as hilarious as ever for this session. I particularly love the series of images near the end of this post where she was moving like an octopus. The best part about photographing people is letting their true personalities show!

Beach Portraits at Sunnyside, Toronto

Nothing is more summer than spending time at the beach! I recently hosted a portrait party at Sunnyside Beach in Toronto. In the late afternoon I had some awesome families come by for some portraits. Real Family Portraits, Toronto

What make a real family portrait? Something that is true to life. Where you are together as one behaving how you normally would whether there was a camera aimed at you or not. Where you laugh and make silly faces. Where you wear clothing from your closet instead of outfits perfectly curated from your local retailer. If you are a follower of my blog, you probably recognise this awesome family from past portrait sessions. It is so fun to watch the kids grow and see how strong their relationships continue to evolve.

A Wychwood Barns Wedding | Rachel & Eric are Married!

I am very excited to share photos from Rachel and Eric’s stunning wedding. Their intimate wedding was held in the courtyard of the Artscape Wychwood Barns (which is one of my most favourite locations in Toronto, so much so that my own wedding is taking place there come April!). To say that this day was a family affair is 100% accurate. Every aspect of the wedding had the help of their friends and family which made the day all that more special. I loved all of the incredible details that they had including the self-serve pie station after dinner and the adorable guestbook set-up. We did photos around the barns before heading up to St. Clair Avenue West for some more portraits. While up there, we happened to run into the Bar Ape gelato truck whose driver was kind enough to let us indulge in a sweet treat. Rachel’s brother played guitar as she walked down the aisle for the ceremony and Eric’s cousin did a song for their first dance. One of the greatest aspects of a wedding, besides the obvious one of two people joining together for life, is that it is a great excuse to get your nearest and dearest together for one night. At this wedding, Rachel and all seven of her siblings were together in one room for the first time in years. I just loved that. Congratulations Rachel & Eric! It was an honour to capture your wedding for you.
